Introducing: A Daily Prayer
During the Coronavirus Crisis
Prayer #1: That We Would Seek God as Our Refuge
During the development of the Coronavirus Crisis, I have been praying about what Raleigh-Area Concerts of Prayer can and should do. This morning, as I was praying with a handful of pastors, I sensed that God was leading me to begin to send out a suggested prayer for the greater-Raleigh church to join in agreement in praying. Before I could share this with the pastors, one of the pastors spoke to me, suggesting that I do this! It was an important confirmation.
I will try to send out a focus for one prayer each day. I may miss some days, but my intent is to send one out nearly every day. Note that this will not be a list of things for prayer, but one single area to pray for each day. Over the coming days, though, we will pray for many things.
Prayer #1 is an important one, and is really, the first thing that God’s people should do-run to Him as our refuge. There are many Scripture verses that speak of seeking God’s shelter in times of trouble. Here are some:
Ps. 27:5 “For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent, He will set me high upon a rock.”
Ps. 37:39 “The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their refuge in the time of trouble.”
Ps. 46:10 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Jn. 14:1 “Let your heart not be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.”
So today, let’s pray for God’s people, in this time of trouble, to run to Him as our shelter and refuge. It is the first thing we should do. Pray that during this crisis, many who do not know God would discover Him to be the very security they are now looking for.

Daily Prayer #2
During the Coronavirus Crisis
Prayer #2: For Medical Personnel
We often take our doctors, nurses and hospital personnel for granted, but during this troubling time, we are most mindful, perhaps more than ever before, of their efforts on behalf of billions of people across the globe. Right now, countless numbers of medical personnel are serving hundreds of thousands of people who are suffering with the Coronavirus. So, today, let’s lift them up in prayer.
Pray for wisdom for these doctors and nurses as they are daily faced with critical decisions about treating patients who are seriously ill. Pray for them as they test many people and make important evaluations. And pray for their protection. Many medical personnel are exposed to the virus on a daily basis. Pray that the Lord would sustain them, since many are working long, long hours right now. Many are exhausted. And finally, pray that, in this time of their weariness in this crisis, these precious medical servants would come to know the Servant of all, Jesus Christ.
Is. 40:30-31 “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
